How To Order A Size For A Junior Bridesmaid

September 15, 2020

 A lot of brides worry when it comes to ordering a size for a junior bridesmaid, but they shouldn't.

It's actually very easy when you think of the actual steps when making a dress, and below is a wee break down that should help you work out what to do.

It is also worthwhile noting, that 99% of the time all bridesmaid dresses will require alterations for the perfect fit. It is also far easier to order a bigger size and alter it down, than it is to ordering a smaller size and taking it out. Please bare this in mind when considering the following;

First of all, you need to think of the time difference between ordering the dress, and when your wedding is. Please see the calculation below:

There is a total of _______ months between the time of getting measured, and the wedding which is on the ______/_______/_______.

This is our starting base.

The information below, is our best attempt to help you work out sizing when it comes to ordering a size for a junior bridesmaid. Since everybody is different, this is in no way set in stone and we can in no way be help responsible if you go ahead with our advice and your junior either: doesn't grow at all, or outgrows the additional measurements. That being said, we have never had any complaints about this and most people find it very helpful.

When determining how much your girl is going to grow, it is important to take into consideration the following;

  • How far ahead in the future the event is
  • The rate of growth she grows
  • Puberty (if adolescent which can be anything from 8+)

First of all you need to think of the build of your junior. Is she more straight-up-n-down, or more filled out?

Your typical straight up and down typically grows UP the way. Our more filled out girls are, surprise surprise, girls who are more likely to fill OUT the way.

We find that on average you can stick to the basic guidelines, although as mentioned above everybody is different and  we have provided these guidelines through our experience in the past but again cannot determine exactly how your girl is going to grow.

For adolescent please remember to add on more for bust growth than other measurements, and more for hip growth if fitted as these are the areas most likely to grow at this age.

Obviously, it is our job as a business in this industry to point you in the right direction when it comes to this, but as you know and as states above, everybody’s body is different which means that even although our consultants are trained to the highest level, no amount of knowledge can predict a certain persons exact growth.
